Docu360: Thian Hock Keng Temple

Thian Hock Keng temple is a famous temple located right along Amoy Street in Singapore. Compared to other temples, it’s relatively small in scale, but nevertheless this is considered one of the most important temple in Singapore.

The Chinese name for this temple is 天福宫, a literal translation would be “Celestial Bliss Palace”, and it was built in 1839 by the Hokkien clan. The primary deity would be Ma Zu (妈祖), the goddess of Chinese sailors and merchants back in the 1800s, who would come here to pray for a safe voyage or merchandise delivery.
